Hello all, What are people using these days in order to support FTTB/N/C services on Mikrotik routers? I need to throw an NBN service into a site that uses FTTB and as we know the Proscend transceivers aren't around anymore. Unless someone has one laying around they'd be happy to part ways with... The Draytek Vigor 130s were good, but several of the 167s I put in place had issues. VDSL connection would drop and it wouldn't come back until they were power cycled. I stopped using them. Now we use a Cisco router with a VDSL card. Our upstream provider gives them to us for free with a VDSL connection. The Telstra TG799vac are cheap on eBay (sub $50 new) and work well for various clients of mine on FTTN in bridge mode with Mikrotik. If you initially connect them to a Telstra FTTN connection I have found they will self update over a period of time (20 mins) else you can force an update using this method: https://www.crc.id.au/hacking-the-technicolor-tg799vac-and-unlocking-feature... Other sites I install equipment on seem to supply cheapie DLink's and TPLinks in bridge mode plugged into Fortinet gear. If it works for them.... Any bridgeable modem that has VDSL 2, SOS and ROC will do as it only an interface changer. I have Netcomm and Netgear in place from the clients and updated the firmware to get them operational. There is a firmware update for the 130 that will allow you to use them with the NBN - it doesn't support SOS and ROC, but it sends the right signals so that NBN doesn't try to use them (or something like that). Hi, You don't need to lock down a modem in bridge mode, since there is no L3 access unless you forward to it with a NAT from the ethernet side. So any vulnerabillites are not as much of a concern, you won't even need a password. Tip: If you can collect SNMP stats setup snmp and make the dive reachable from a collector on your LAN or the Dude on the gateway router, to collect the modem stats, helps with argueing with NBN if there is a problem on the line, as they often pass the line test if the problem only happens when it rains. Â ie. They won't believe you have a problem unless you can prove it, and you will be charge for a callout if here isn't a problem.
