If it's time to treat yourself to a new TV or sound system

Beautiful remotes and beautiful music!😃 View this email in your browser (https://mailchi.mp/10a644c6dae8/if-its-time-to-treat-yourself-to-a-new-tv-o…) Are you one of the following people? -Do you wish it was easier to use your TV and music system? -Are you the only person in the home that can use it? -Do you not play music because it sounds awful or it's too complicated? -Is your AV system a bit of a mess but you don't want to touch it? -Do you hate technology and wish everyone could go back to reading books and singing around the piano? -Do you love technology and want your setup to be heaps better than your neighbours cause he reckons his is awesome -Are you building, renovating or moving and want to treat yourself to a new system? I feel like I've found the perfect suite of products to bring stress free music and TV to your home by becoming a Savant (https://chaseav.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d0ddbbe3ccea475e7e9a5b83…) installer (actually from the start of the year) and my clients and I have been super impressed by how well it all works, how reliable it is and how easy it is to use. It's also just looks good. Please send me an email or give me a call if you'd like me to drop in and see how we can bring your music or movies back to life. Any job booked in during August will get either a free Wifi access point to improve your wifi coverage in the home or a new router to improve your home network (whichever you need the most)! The Savant remote is super simple to use with a really nice touchscreen. I think remotes are still the best way to control your TV. This remote just looks cool and makes the room a little bit more elegant. ============================================================ ** Twitter (https://chaseav.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d0ddbbe3ccea475e7e9a5b83…) ** Facebook (https://chaseav.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d0ddbbe3ccea475e7e9a5b83…) ** Website (https://chaseav.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d0ddbbe3ccea475e7e9a5b83…) You are being sent this email as a previous client of Chase AV Our mailing address is: erin(a)chaseav.com.au Want to change how you receive these emails? skype for business link quality - RouterBOARD 962UiGS-5HacT2HnT
by Matt Chipman 05 Aug '19

05 Aug '19

Hi all, i have a annoying and recurring problem with my MT device (RouterBOARD 962UiGS-5HacT2HnT) where the Skype link quality indicator (top right bar graph) fluctuates between "really bad" and "good" but mostly sits on "really bad" (red) I have discovered that if I reboot the MT then rejoin the call, it works fine for the next few hours (bar graph says excellent) but will have to definitely reboot the next day again once I jump on my first call. This happens on 2 or 5 Ghz wireless, must admit I have not tried Ethernet. Anyone have any ideas? I have PNP turned on for the internal network and the standard FW rules that come with the default setup. I have reset the device to factory defaults and it makes no difference after the initial reboot. I am on a 50Mbps fibre link with IINET. All other services work fine its just SFB which is being a pain. tia Matt

8 Port Switches
by Matt Hall 05 Aug '19

05 Aug '19

Hello all, Not sure it this ok, not asking about a Mikrotik product. Sometimes I need a small 8 or 16 port unmanaged gigabit switch simply to connect up several clients to one data point. For use in SOHO environments and Pubs. MK don’t make one. Basic model is CRS112-8G-4S-IN for approx. $200 then it jumps up to a 24 port CSS326 (too big) for the same price. What have you found to be reliable? Matt

Thanks Ben. The only 2 units that support 700 / B28 are $1200 and $1700, so yes rather pricy but then so is a luxury motor yacht. They do look solid. 4G Modem supporting 700Mhz/ Band 28
by Matt Hall 29 Jul '19

29 Jul '19

Hello All, Thanks for all the generous support provided by you all. It’s very much appreciated. I need to replace a Teltonika RUT-950 modem router on a luxury motor yacht placed below deck. A 3G and 4G external antenna feed into it from above and it serves a basic AV / WLAN setup. The yacht is mostly within Sydney harbour but sometimes ventures up the coast as far as Brisbane. Any suggestions? I know there’s now an MK LTE modem (as of a few months ago) but it doesn’t support B28. Matt

SXTLTE dropouts after upgrade
by Thomas Jackson 28 Jul '19

28 Jul '19

Good morning all, Just hoping for a sanity check... we have a fleet of RBSXTLTE3-7 units out in the field which have proven to be quite reliable. Since upgrading one of the units which was previously working fine from 6.39.2 to 6.45.2 for the security fixes (and doing associated firmware upgrade) - the unit is locking up even with no traffic after about 4 hours of uptime. I'm still able to SSH into it and do some tasks (eg issuing "/system reboot" works, albeit takes quite a while to actually do the reboot), but other tasks don't work (eg if I type in "/ping 1" it will reliably and totally lock the SSH session before I can even enter the full IP address). I've tried a full factory reset of configuration and rebuilding from scratch, as well as going back to 6.44.5 and up to 6.46beta16, the only idea I haven't tried yet is to netinstall it (which is a bit of a challenge as it isn't something I can easily access physically so I'm hoping to avoid that!). I'm not game to upgrade another one of our units to see if it is the unit or the upgrade that is the problem quite yet. Is there anything obvious with the upgrade path that I've missed perhaps? Kind regards, Thomas

Powerline/ EOP
by Matt Hall 19 Jul '19

19 Jul '19

Hi All, Rare that I would want to resort to powerline devices, (power over ethernet). Mikrotik has just released a product that may or may not make it to Australia. In the meantime, I have a 2 bedroom unit built like a bunker that needs wifi access at the rear. Client has been successfully using EOP for one section of the unit so I’ve plugged in one of the pairs of the EOP devices to test various power outlets and it gets a green light wherever we need wifi so I’m thinking I might find a device that does EOP with built 2.4 for this job. Simple requirements, most demanding task will be steaming video. I don’t want to piggyback an AP on the EOP unit as one of them will sit in a hallway and look rather messy. No option to run cat cable here due to strata laws and building design. Another option is mesh I guess. Thoughts? Any recommendations on an EOP unit with built in wifi? Matt

Matt, I always considered having the right tools for the job is a necessary part of any ICT tool kit. I have Ethernet testers, ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+/VDSL/VDSL2/Fibre tester, Cable identifiers/tracers, Software tools to track, trace and monitor links and everything else Etc... The pocketethernet is one that I have considered in the past and thought about purchasing - it is really good kit, but I had decided to utilise Fluke for testing cabling by renting that kit. The Fluke kit is an expense that is out of reach and the technology changes regularly - so ROI is a problem. Keep the sparkies/cablers honest and verify what they are selling you is legitimate using the pocketethernet device is a great idea. Hi Kev. I want a tester for troubleshooting when things aren’t going according to plan or if I want to find out what’s what in a copper wire bird’s nest. If I want cable laid I get someone else on the job with the right tools. Looks like the pockethernet will be just right for the job. Too late now anyway, I bought one. :) Matt > On 15 Jul 2019, at 12:00, public-request(a)talk.mikrotik.com.au wrote: > > Send Public mailing list submissions to > public(a)talk.mikrotik.com.au > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://talk.mikrotik.com.au/mailman/listinfo/public_talk.mikrotik.com.au > > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > public-request(a)talk.mikrotik.com.au > > You can reach the person managing the list at > public-owner(a)talk.mikrotik.com.au > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Public digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Matt You stated that you use electricians with certification testers.. If they are certifying that the cable is tested for cat 6 / cat 6 E performance then I don't see why youd need a tester. Or do you mean the sparkies are just performing a wire map test only, and the reason you need another device to ensure what they are doing. On a side note if I do a job for a customer. I would be using a fluke to test the performance of the cable, certify the cabling and connection points, as an integral part of the scope of works. The fluke device I use for structured cabling for customers is the only way I can guarantee that the backbone of the network is capable and ready. It also offers peace of mind for the IT department, but then again I'm not a sparky, I'm a Structured Cabler, Telco technical Officer of many many years.
