SIMs and data plans for Mikrotik 4G devices

The landscape for 4G data access is always changing. I am trying to find SIM plans that will work in a Mikrotik 4G unit. I have ruled out some Optus based ones as the plans are locked to the IMEA or only certain IMEAs are permitted. I am typically trying to find alternatives to poor NBN-FW and NBN-Satellite services for rural customers. I know Starlink is coming and I have an email that their service is in beta in parts of Victoria. The addresses I have tried say later in 2021. What are carriers and plans are you guys using these days with success with large data caps and decent prices in Mikrotik gear? Good afternoon Mailing list, I am just emailing see if anyone out there has suggestions on LTE modems that support band 28 work well with Mikrotik devices? We are seeking to find a mini-PCIe modem that will work on router OS 6 without needing to do to much to get it working as well as offer existing functionalitys like passthrough ect that we can certify and offer a cheaper solution when compared to the Chateau. As well as this any feedback on what devices you would like to see support the band 28 card or any information on how the most comman installation you would be using this device and the functionality you would need will greatly help us in our desisions on what device/s we would certify. I’ve been using the EC 25 au successfully ( strictly for lab purposes of course as it’s not certified with any MikroTik Devices). As far as I’m aware it’s the only modem that works well with MikroTik on Band 28. No point setting up as PPP IMO as speed is limited to 30 Mbps. There’s a guide I can point you to if need be to get it up and running as an LTE Interface. It then requires AT chat commands to change the bands or to see what band you’re on. I know that’s not the easy setup you’re looking for but as far as I’m aware it’s the best option out there. In terms of choosing a device, if I had to restrict it to one I guess it would be the SXTLTE, perhaps the best compromise. There’s also the LTap mini, ltap and the LHT lte. I think it’s important to either have a decent antenna built-in or to have the option for external antennas. I’ve had zero success with pass through and have given up on it. It’s not that much of an advantage anyway as you’re still stuck with double nat unless you go with a carrier grade sim option. MT Lora Band Lock

Hi Guys, Has anyone been playing with MT Lora GWs? I am just trying to understand how the band lock works as I am getting a bunch of strange errors when trying to set up a custom channel plan (in 915-928MHZ of course) to match TTN AS923-AS1 https://www.thethingsnetwork.org/docs/lorawan/frequency-plans.html as the builtin AS923 is a bit different. EG. /lora radios> set 0 center-freq=923000000 disabled=no rssi-off=-166 tx-enabled=yes tx-freq-max=923400000 tx-freq-min=920000000 failure: Radio 0 Tx min freq. below 923.0 MHz It seems a little restrictive to have the min at 923MHz... I have also noticed that the unit will TX on a frequency which is not on the channel list, which means the downlinks do not work correctly... EG TX on 923.3MHz which is not on the channel list with the builtin AS923 channel plan. Anyone with any insights would be appreciated! Regards Andrew

IPv6 over Telstra 4G

Hi All, I'm running a Mikrotik 750G r3 Hex on 6.48 and using ether1 for an NBN connection which leases an IPv6 address and /56 prefix fine. On ether2 I have a Netgear LB2120 4G router in bridge mode with a Telstra prepaid SIM, using the telstra.internet APN and configured the PDP for IPV4V6. I've got the same IPv6 firewall rule setup for ether2 as I do ether1, yet I cannot lease an IPv6 address from it. ether2 has no problems leasing an IPv4 (Telstra CGNAT) address. Has anyone had any success in getting IPv6 working on a Telstra prepaid 4G service? Hi All, I am looking for a tool to help with Wifi planning and verification. We would like a tool that can overlay on a map or floor plan for outdoor and indoor use with heat map visualization. Something that can help us to plan the location of APs and also to validate that after an installation the area is sufficiently covered. Can anyone suggest or recommend such a tool. TIA.
